Wound Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Examines patients and their medical records
  • Orders and studies diagnostic test (blood test, X-rays, etc.)
  • Diagnoses health conditions and illnesses as pertaining to wound care
  • Develops treatment plans for wound management
  • Prescribes medications (no narcotics)
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Educates patients and their family members on wound treatment and management
  • Debrides wounds by using sharp, enzymatic, or autolytic methods in a safe manner
  • Applies topical wound care and wound management products
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality
  • And other duties as assigned within scope of practice

Qualifications, Education, and Skill Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing or Physician Assistant program
  • No experience necessary; willing to train the right candidate.
  • Must be willing to travel 100% of the time within an assigned territory within the DFW metro
  • Current and unrestricted license as a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant in the state of Texas. Will accept compact license
  • A minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience providing wound care, preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities while managing multiple task
  • This position requires 100 percent in-home treatment
