Diamond America is Hiring a CNC Programmer Machinist Near Akron, OH

Job Description:Since 1941, Diamond America/Akron Tool & Die has been in the same location in Akron Ohio. Making quality components for a variety of industries. Position Summary:Due to continued growth and vertical integration, we have an opportunity for a highly skilled programmer/precision machinist. You will be challenged daily to produce CAM programs for multiple assets.
Duties and Responsibilities:This list is not comprehensive but meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Set-up, program, and operate 3 & 5-axis CNC mills, and WEDM to produce tight tolerance machine components.
  • CAM program up to 5-axis machining using Mastercam.
  • Assist co-workers with set-up, or machine operations as needed.
  • Stay up to date on current machine tool technologies.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor machine tool during processing to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Follow print specifications and set up sheet.
  • Ability to work directly with 3D models.
  • Multi-tasking with several machines, programming, and hands-on skills.
  • Follow all company quality processes, procedures, and standards for job tasks.
  • Must keep work area clean and machines tidy and organized.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Some
Experience and Skills Minimum Qualifications:
  • Journeyman Machinist or minimum 5 years experience with set up and operation within CNC machine technology, 5-axis preferred.
  • Ability to use precision instruments including micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
  • Ability to use Mastercam effectively and efficiently.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to apply geometric and trig functions to solve machining calculations.
  • Knowledgeable of all machine functions as well as G & M coded commands to evaluate latest programs.
  • Understand and apply precision measuring instruments and other technical documentation.
  • Highly motivated and focused on results.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs, plus stand for extended periods.
  • Be familiar with cutting conditions and able to hold work by adjusting vises, fixtures, tools, attachments, or stops.
  • Must be able to read/interpret prints, understand geometric tolerances and able to hold tight tolerances consistently.
  • Willing to participate in educational opportunities; read technical publications, attend seminars and training events.
Language/Communication Skills: Ability to communicate across functions, professional levels, and background.
Computer Skills: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and Mastercam. Familiar with Fanuc Control programming language.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of modern business communication, office procedures and methods. Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite, and Mastercam. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork.
Equipment Used: 3 and 5-axis CNC Mills, and Wire EDM. Use of telephones, computer, other office equipment as needed.
Special/ Additional Requirements: Persons in this position may be required to pass a drug, alcohol, and/or criminal background check.
