Northwest Weight & Wellness Center is Hiring a Registered Nurse (RN)-PACU Near Everett, WA

NO NIGHTS..... NO WEEKENDS.... NO HOLIDAYS
Looking for a per diem RN to work approx. 20 hour a week in our ASC (Schedule varies Mon - Thurs - Closed Fridays)
Job Summary
This position is responsible for direct patient care within PACU to participate in the safe evaluation, monitoring and support of patients who are about to undergo anesthesia, or who are recovering from anesthesia. Primary focus on laparoscopic bariatric surgery, general surgery, upper endoscopy procedures, and plastic surgery in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care and practice.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Promote the mission, vision and values of SSSC.
  2. Manage patient admission processes to ensure all safety checks are complete.
  3. Assess the status of the patient’s health and ensure accuracy of patient data collected.
  4. Collect all necessary documents for patient and surgeon signature and ensure accuracy of information, including patient identifiers, surgical procedure, medications and allergies, and so on.
  5. Take and record vital signs and report abnormalities.
  6. Communicate with the patient regarding expectations post-operatively in the immediate recovery period, as well as after they are discharged to home, including when to call the office.
  7. When patient comes to PACU from surgery, take immediate responsibility for the management of the patient’s recovery process, to include monitoring of vital signs, maintaining patent airway, administration of medications per standing orders and organizational protocols, and all other needed responsibilities to assist the patient through the immediate recovery period.
  8. Communicate immediately with surgeon and/or anesthesiologist any concerns related to the patient’s recovery process, including abnormal vital signs, difficulty waking, and others.
  9. Determine when patient is ready to be moved from recovery to their room prior to discharge.
  10. Assess recovery needs for each case and notify leadership of equipment or resources needed.
  11. Provide immediate feedback and follow up, documentation and communication of incidents which occur in the PACU setting.
  12. Respond to emergency situations and assist as necessary.
  13. Assess patient condition on routine intervals as outlined by organizational policy.
  14. Assess any wounds, drains, and/or other areas of concern on routine intervals as outlined by organizational policy. Complete wound care as appropriate and/or needed.
  15. Manage fluid balance to include IV and oral hydration as well as monitoring of output.
  16. Document all patient vitals, recovery status, sedation level, medications and other treatments via the appropriate method and with accuracy.
  17. Collaborate with SSSC Leadership and Unit Supervisor on patient flow through ASC, and support of positive team dynamics, onboarding and training of new hires, and fostering a team-based culture.
  18. Anticipate potential challenges to the daily flow of the PACU and set priorities accordingly.
  19. Report to SSSC Leadership and/or Unit Supervisor any concerns or incidents directly related to damaged equipment, physician concerns, security concerns, unusual patient situations, missing items, staff concerns or emergency situations.
  20. Collaborate with PACU team and leadership on maintaining high quality Infection Control and sterilization practices in the PACU.
  21. Maintain professional growth through continuing education, seminars, workshops and independent research.
  22. Participate in the implementation of standards, workflows, policies and procedures which impact the PACU operations and staff.
  23. Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with patients, families, co-workers and medical staff in the effective delivery of patient care.
  24. Develop and maintain effective working relations with co-workers in other areas of the facility to ensure on-going quality of care and customer service.
  25. Maintain confidentiality of records, patient, employee or facility information at all times.
  26. Sanitize all surfaces per Infection Control guidelines between every patient.
  27. Follow proper hand hygiene protocols.
  28. Ensure all information and conversations regarding patients are secured from general public access.
  29. Participate in meetings, committees and task forces within the organization in order to participate in system improvements, communications and operations.
  30. Adhere to the general administrative, human resource and departmental policies and procedures and upholds the standards of professional nursing practice.
  31. Attend all mandatory unit, leadership and organizational meetings and in-services.
  32. Participate in department performance improvement activities to ensure the development and implementation of processes which support quality patient care and effective work performance.
  33. Attend, complete and maintain documentation of all mandatory education programs including but not limited to Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Registered Nurse License, and other certifications as required.
  34. Perform other duties as deemed necessary or assigned by leadership or a designee.

Schedule
  1. Hourly/Non-Exempt
  2. Monday – Thursday, schedule varies (will work 10-hr or 12-hr shifts), Friday work as scheduled/required
Education/Experience Requirements
  1. Graduate of an Accredited Nursing program.
  2. Current WA State Registered Nurse (RN) license, without restriction; CNOR preferred.
  3. Current BLS and ACLS certification. If no current ACLS must obtain within 6 months of employment.
  4. 1-year PACU nursing experience required; 1 year leadership experience preferred.
  5. 1-year OR nursing experience helpful, but not required.
  6. Exercise knowledge and experience in a wide array of surgical procedures.
  7. In place of the above requirements, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual's knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.
Physical Requirements
  1. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with hands often and arms above shoulders occasionally, stoop, crouch or twist frequently, kneel or squat seldom.
  2. Lift/Carry/Push/Pull/Support up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  3. Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, high pressure steam, chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, stress, back strain, body fluids, etc.
  4. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc.
  5. Pressure from high volume census to meet deadlines to obtain adequate instrumentation from vendors.
  6. Must possess functional vision, hearing, and speech to communicate effectively with patients, patient advocates, and staff.
  7. Perform fine motor functions, Tactile differentiation, e.g. temperature, moisture.
