The Yoga Room is a community based yoga studio in a traditionally underserved area in North Minneapolis near the beautiful Victory Memorial Parkway. We have been serving the community for almost 8 years and have a passion for creating an environment of health, wellness, healing, self and community. The Yoga Room is part of a holistic healing center that also offers Thai Bodywork and massage.

This class has a gentle flow at the start and ends with some restorative postures and is accessible to those who want a slower class,

An ideal candidate would have strong sequencing skills, at least 2 years of teaching experience, and 5 years of a personal practice. They will also be able to make yoga accessible to all bodies by offering variations an options for poses. Instructors who have strong skills for building a sense community and making connections with students are encouraged to apply.

Instructors who are able to allow for silence in class, so that yogis can attend to their breathe by balancing cuing and quiet, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Create and lead mindful yoga sequences with an intention to cultivate health, wellness and community.
• Develop sequences that offer variations and modification that make yoga accessible to all bodies.
• When appropriate provide assistance or guidance to help with alignment or to deepen a pose.
• Create and environment of where all feel welcome and there is a sense of community.
• Demonstrate dependability: arrive for class on time, get coverage in advance and demonstrate effective and timely communication.
• Able to balance cueing and also allow for silence so that participants and focus on their breathe and bodies.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 200-hour yoga instructor training
• Two years of experience teaching yoga classes in a group setting.
• Ability to modify and adapt yoga practices to accommodate various skill levels, body types, and physical limitations.
• Foundation of knowledge about yoga principles, anatomy, postural alignment, and sequencing.
