About the role:At Vantage, a Political Risk and Credit (“PRC”) Underwriting Assistant is a member of our PRC insurance team. The mission of PRC is to add creativity to tech-enabled efficiency and robust analytics to address political and financial risks related to operating and investing in emerging markets that others avoid. This role will be responsible for providing daily assistance in the management of all underwriting transactions to support the PRC underwriting team. This role reports to our PRC Business Manager and is a hybrid opportunity based in Vantage’s Alexandria, Virginia office. The base salary expectation for this role is between $70,000 and $90,000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Perform underwriting support activities associated with the management of all underwriting transactions, service standards and compliance rules and documentation.Develop proficiency in basic underwriting analysis, file preparation and report assessment.Provide accurate processing support for new business submissions.Issuing insurance policies as instructed by the underwriting team.Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging with underwriters as well as internal and external contacts.Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments.Meet departmental service standards in place for each process.Partner with operations and technology team on design and systems implementation with focus on ongoing process improvement.Support billing and collection efforts to manage and monitor premium payments.Assist in office management responsibilities.Perform other duties and special projects as assigned under minimal supervision.Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment. Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up. Ideal Candidate Profile:Bachelor’s or Technical degree or equivalent required.At least 2 years of insurance industry experience preferred.1 plus years of insurance product line experience preferred.Knowledge of international trade, geopolitical affairs, and financial analysis is highly desired.Analytical: Able to identify and define problems, extract key information from data and develop workable solutions for the problems identified to test and verify the cause of the problem and develop solutions to resolve the problems identified.Drive to Deliver: Takes accountability for work, organizes, and prioritizes, delivers results, is action oriented, sets and achieves goals and demonstrates resilience.
