Pathways for Change, Inc. is conducting a search for On-Call Advocates for its Medical Accompaniment Program. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to Danielle Menla, Hotline Coordinator.

The Medical Accompaniment Program operated by Pathways for Change, Inc. provides supportive services and counseling to survivors of, and those directly affected by, sexual violence throughout the Central Massachusetts using an empowerment model. These free and confidential services are offered to any survivor and/or their loved ones and are offered by staff in American Sign Language, English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Advocates are paid a stipend to be on-call for six hour blocks of time during non-business hours to respond to any one of nine hospitals emergency rooms, within Central Massachusetts, to support a sexual violence survivor and/or their family member(s) during a forensic examinations and/or to police stations to file police reports. A “response fee” is paid when an Advocate takes a call or responds to a hospital or police station. PPE will be provided, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications (Primary):

• Strong ability to communicate in English in a professional manner. Bilingual ASL, Portuguese and Spanish a plus
• Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel frequently between several sites located throughout Massachusetts.
• Rape Crisis Center Certification in sexual assault counseling, (or ability and willingness to obtain) required. (Pathways will provide.)
• Commitment to integration of multicultural perspective and feminist approach within all aspects of work and commitment to social change.
• Ability to work flexible schedule of early mornings, overnights and weekends.

Desired Qualifications (Secondary)

• Members of the Deaf Community are strongly encouraged to apply
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sexual violence preferred. Knowledge of the societal factors contributing to the incidence of sexual violence within the community, preferred.
