Forward Montana (FMT) is seeking a
part-time contractor to assist with the operations of the 2024 High School Summer Fellowship. The fellowship contractor would assist the Civic Education Organizer in coordinating the logistical and programmatic details of the 4-day, in-person civics camp at Lubrecht Forest, July 9th-12th. This is a great opportunity to use part of the summer to support the next generation to make direct change in their local communities and develop personal and professional skills as civic leaders!

What you'll do: The High School Summer Fellowship contractor will report to the Civic Education Coordinator and is responsible for:
- Must be available to work full-time and in-person at Lubrecht Forest July 9-12.
- Ensure all high school students have signed the necessary liability and release forms.
- Organize a spreadsheet of the accessibility/health and safety needs of the fellows.
- Coordinate and pick up meals and other materials during the camp.
- Assist in delivering civics content and activities with the Civic Education Organizer
- Co-chaperone the camp with the Civic Education Organizer
- Organize contact information of fellows and parent contact information for each fellow, communicate with parents and fellows ahead of the camp .
- Help to identify and assign each fellow with a FMT field opportunity in their respective communities or nearby.
- Familiarize themselves with the civics camp curriculum, Forward Montana's mission, and the purpose of our high school programming.
Must-Haves: The ideal candidate would have experience with
event coordination , ideally within the community organizing realm! The contractor should be
detail-oriented and comfortable with keeping track of the moving parts of a 4 day civics camp, coordinating information for 10 high school students respectively. The contractor should be
communicative, comfortable checking in routinely with the Civic Education Organizer, fellows, and their parents . Most importantly, candidates should be excited about the
outdoors, and engaging with high school students with a vested interest in community strengthening and organizing!
What Else You Should Know Compensation for the duration of the retreat will be $25/hr, for 12 hrs over a period of 4 days, for a total of
$1,500. Compensation for retreat pre-work amounts to
$500 , at $25/hr for 20 hrs.
In total, the contractor will be compensated
$2,000 over the duration of their term, ending July 12th.
