Essential Functions

1. Act as lead technical reference for customer and internal organization in the case of materials, coatings, and assembly application.
2. Read, analyze, and discuss customer required specifications managing all qualification kick-off meetings and put decisions into actions. Works to complete projects on time and within budget. 
3. Conducts engineering design evaluations to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and propose VA/VE proposals. 
4. Project leadership of coating/post-coating processes based on Customer requirements. Verify and interpret results in cooperation with the Metallographic Laboratory and the Process Leader. 
5. Prepare required customer documentation to qualify new products/processes from kick-off to full release. Continuously improve product / processes and utilize proper change management practices.
6. Develop production costs quotation and related feasibility study. Project leadership to continually decrease manufacturing costs.
7. Determine and approve the process standards of a new component, meet NPI qualification stage gates and milestones, and provide customer products corresponding to the required quality specifications.
8. Develop, check, and improve component standards in order to promote actions for cost savings and process standard improvement.
9. Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action activities to permanently eliminate defects. Utilize 8D and DMAIC approach to problem solving and non-conformances.
10. Adhere to the Company's Quality and Safety Management System and in accordance with its procedures and requirements.
11. Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methods to improve Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
12. Participate in Kaizen events, promote positive employee environment, and community involvement.

Work Environment

 This job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computes, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Demands

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

 This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.

Travel

 One month of training in Italy is required for this position, after that travel will occur as needed to support the rapid growth of the company.

Education

A Mechanical or Chemical Engineer 4-year college degree is required.

Skills

Proven project leadership experience in the Engineering field. Industrial gas turbine, aerospace, or automotive industry strongly preferred. 

1. NPI / APQP experience is required.
2. New company startup and/or Joint Venture experience preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of Solid Works and Minitab. Knowledge of Alphacam is a plus.
4. Must have excellent communication skills and experience interacting with all levels of customers, including technical managers.
5. Experience with ERP systems, including creation and management of bill of materials is preferred.
6. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret blueprints and specifications.
7. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
8. Strong knowledge of both metric and US measurement systems.
