Hancock County Government is seeking full time Patrol Deputy to fill a vacancy in our Sheriff’s Office.
The Patrol Deputies will protect and serve the citizens and visitors of Hancock County. Patrol Deputies work a shift of five (5) days consecutive eleven (11) hours on, which include one hour on call, followed by four (4) consecutive days off, followed by five (5) consecutive eleven (11) hour days on, which include one hour on call, followed by five (5) consecutive days off. This is based on a twenty-eight (28) day cycle with a base hourly week consisting on 41.25 hours. Lateral transfers on a year-to-year basis are offered for up to ten years of experience. Each deputy is assigned their own fully outfitted cruiser for their use.
Required: High School diploma or equivalent, valid Driver’s license, computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office/Word, knowledge of county and towns geographic layout. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, successfully complete the ALERT test, be in adequate physical condition and have a minimum of the law enforcement pre service certification.
Preferred: Preference will be given to post-secondary education, certified law enforcement experience and/or military experience. Full-time Police Academy graduates preferred. CCSO Law enforcement Department Deputy Sheriff’s are required to reside within the state of Maine and not more than 5 miles outside of Hancock County border.
