Description:
Seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, creative Grade 3 Immersion Teacher for our Elementary Spanish Immersion Program. The successful candidate must possess native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and have experience and credentials as an elementary teacher.
Our immersion program is such that classroom teachers provide instruction in Spanish for the majority of day but this teacher will need to feel comfort with and be able to deliver a English literacy block with a curriculum for a minimum of 60 minutes a day. This teacher will teach math completely in Spanish and work to support students in acquiring and speaking in Spanish for the majority of their day.
As a school, we work together collaboratively to ensure all students feel a sense of belonging and that all students are engaged in grade level learning every day. Every morning, every classroom, including Spanish, begins their day in a circle, running a morning meeting focused on belonging and building social emotional skills. As a school community, we are committed to implementing anti-racist systems and practices, including restorative practices for our discipline policy. We require and support our staff with continually examining their own identities and biases and engage regularly in necessary conversations about race and equity. As a school community, we uphold these values: Black Lives Matter and students and families who speak a second language are an asset to our school. These values guide our Lyseth community as we commit to social justice and consistently working towards becoming an anti-racist school.
Requirements: Experience teaching in language immersion programs, bilingual education programs, or other sheltered instruction contexts is preferred; evidence of successful experiences with children in primary grades, including differentiation of instruction and strong student and parent relationships; demonstrated ability to collaborate at a deep level professionally and develop and implement lessons, curricula, and assessments; familiarity with elementary curricula and assessments highly desirable. We seek an individual who will communicate well with parents, staff and teachers in the school and have the skills to work as a member of a cohesive team committed to building and promoting the district’s Spanish immersion program. Elementary certification required.
