About Certara

Certara accelerates medicines using proprietary biosimulation software, technology and services to transform traditional drug discovery and development. Its clients include more than 2,000 biopharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and regulatory agencies across 62 countries

Sr. Consulting Managers lead teams in the performance of all necessary research and analysis tasks and provide the necessary scientific or strategic insight and interpretation as required for the project. Sr. Consulting Managers manage and coordinate project teams to synthesize multiple components and prepare client ready deliverables for contracted projects of all sizes and scopes. Sr. Consulting Managers work independently with the project teams and interact with the client with minimal senior-level supervision. Sr. Consulting Managers may have a handful of direct reports and must provide mentorship and managerial oversight.

Sr. Consulting Managers perform independent self-directed research, analysis and deliverable production, as well as coherent and clear client presentation and explanations of the technical/scientific approach and results to clients. Sr. Consulting Managers have a core scientific or technical expertise and are relied on by colleagues across the business for their particular skillset as it applies to multifaceted projects. Sr. Consulting Managers may guide the work of junior staff in collaboration to achieve project goals but have limited direct managerial responsibility.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Oversee aspects of the project including leading kickoff meetings, developing project approach, managing project team, budget, and timeline and troubleshooting. May oversee all aspects of project in area of expertise
  • Accountable for all deliverables; serve as final Quality Control/review on client deliverables
  • Resolve complex issues, exercising sound judgment
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert at the project level
  • Operate within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action and demonstrate solid initiative to drive results and avoid deadline/deliverable delays
  • Broaden advanced industry knowledge
  • Train staff
  • Has experience with varied project types and has developed skill sets and advanced expertise in at least one major domain

Client Interaction

Sr. Consulting Managers contribute to project teams in a technical SME and/or project lead capacity and may:

  • Proactively cultivate and develop at least one critical client relationship
  • Frequently lead impromptu client interaction
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to clients
  • Support the development of proposals that align with client needs
  • Participate as technical SME in client pitches and final deliverable presentations to highlight advanced technical components
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to support business development and project success
  • Participate in internal initiatives that support continual process improvement
  • Interact with clients as key contact on project-related issue

Management

Sr. Consulting Managers may supervise a small number of direct reports:

  • Provide direct supervision and acts as advisor to meet schedules, budgets, performance requirements and and/or resolve technical and/or client problems
  • Manage the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
  • Provide direction to employees according to established policies and procedures and team/company goals

Leadership

  • Interact with cross-functional peers, to participate in or lead a cooperative effort or to share knowledge
  • Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization/team(s)
  • Present technical expertise via industry speaking engagements
  • Remain current on industry changes
  • Communicate appropriately by audience; represent Company successfully
  • Understands the range of Company service offerings and project types, to lead projects and/or support new business sales
Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training, and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred in relevant scientific field: economics, health policy, epidemiology, etc.)
  • Advanced degree in relevant field preferred (e.g. MS, MPH, MBA, MD)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiar with a wide range of project types and skill sets; proficient in a multiple project types
  • Has advanced analytical and written/oral communication skills
  • Is capable of coaching and training others on skills and concepts
  • Provides input into designing new processes, strategies, and governance
  • Is a successful project manager who is highly flexible, comfortable with ambiguity, and can problem solve independently; successfully escalates complex problems
  • Pushes self and team for top results and proactively enables process and change improvements
  • Has high awareness and understands impact of actions as it relates to project operations
  • Has advanced understating of business trends and demonstrates consistent business maturity and professionalism
