OBJECTIVE:
The Loan Analyst is responsible for packaging/underwriting loan applications, coordinating loan closing activities, and maintaining relationships with existing loan clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following performance measures:
Package and structure loan requests to include:
Assessing loan applications to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with policies.
Documenting appropriate and eligible costs.
Reviewing business plans.
Credit analysis to evaluate repayment ability including analysis of financial statements, tax returns, and collateral valuations.
Identify potential risks associated with loan requests and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Prepare loan/credit proposal to facilitate sound lending decisions.
Communicate with applicants regarding the status of their loan application, clarify financial details, and collect additional information as needed.
Prepare and assist with presentation of applications to the Loan Review Committee including providing all information required in the decision-making process.
Coordinate loan closing activities including collection of required items for closing, preparation of loan documents, scheduling closing date, and attending closing.
Monitoring and collection of delinquent loan payments through correspondence, phone calls, and site visits.
Process requests for loan modifications.
Annual site visits with existing loan clients.
Collaborate with Loan Program Director and other departments to facilitate the lending process, improve loan products and services, and provide strategic support for new program initiatives.
Adhere to established code of ethics and/or conflict of interest policies.
INTERFACE:
Internal - Must interface positively with the Commission staff and Loan Review Committee.
External - Must maintain positive rapport with commercial lenders, regional businesses & entrepreneurs, resource network partners, funding source staff, accountants, and attorneys.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field or 5 years’ equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
Experience/Certification: 3 years’ experience in commercial lending, underwriting, and legal lending practices.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Certification or ability to obtain certification in Economic Development Finance or its equivalent by Grow America or similar organization.
Ability to complete training in finance/lending annually to meet recertification requirements as a Certified Economic Development Organization.
Understanding of credit analysis, business/personal financial statements, spreading financial statements, and collateral valuations.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must have or be able to obtain PA Notary License.
Strict adherence to confidentiality/ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to travel regionally and occasionally overnight as required.
Sitting: 75 %; Walking/standing: 25%
Vision and hearing correctable to within normal range.
