Company Description www.discoveryschoolpgh.com The Discovery School is a Reggio Emilia inspired early childhood program that serves children ages 2 years, 7 months to 6 years old. We offer preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classes. We also offer a summer program for children aged 6 to 11 on our campus called The Discovery School Day Camp. Our approach to learning values children's innate sense of wonder, and allows them to construct meaning of the world around them through play and exploration. Our unique nature campus provides the ideal setting for learning and discovery. Job Description Program Support Job Description Reports to : Camp Director Time Commitment: M-F 8:00am - 12:00pm (20 hrs/week) 6/10/24-8/2/24 Compensation: A weekly stipend of $300 ($15/hr) PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Before care (8:00am - 8:45am)
Set up daily camp activity (8:45am - 9:30am)
Assembly and distribution of lunches and snacks (9:30am - 11:45pm)
Clean up and preparations for the following day (11:45pm - 12pm)

Establishes positive and professional relationships with colleagues.
Show initiative in problem solving and be open to new ideas.
Ability to follow directions and work under pressure
Communicate necessary absences with as much advance notice as possible.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen prep space
Report any kitchen accidents to the director in a timely manner.
Understand and follow the Discovery School Health and Safety Guidelines
Familiarize yourself with weekly camper allergy information and lunch choices
Maintain a safe kitchen prep environment at all times
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Before Care: monitoring the safety and engaging in play with campers in the gym
Set up Daily Special: This involves a variety of responsibilities depending on the day, for example hiding treasure hunt clues, putting up soccer goals or setting up an ice cream sundae bar.
Preparation and distribution of lunches and snacks:
Set up an organized food prep station/assembly line
Receive food deliveries (ex. pizza)
Daily washing and chopping of vegetables and fruits
Assemble up to 88 lunches for distribution by 11:30am
Assuring counselors have daily snacks for campers
Clean up and preparations for the following day: Sweep floor, sanitize work surfaces, restock dry goods, clean/set up breakfast table, check perishable food inventory
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in kitchen operations preferred
Good physical condition and endurance
