DISTRICT INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
Reports to: Director of Curriculum, Director of Language & Culture, Director of Special Education, or an Assistant Superintendent based on role
Qualifications:
Depth of knowledge in the Danielson Framework for Teaching
Current IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in one of the following areas:
Reading/Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Sciences
Physical Education
Fine Arts (Art, Music, Theatre)
Career and Technical Education
Technology Integration (SAMR)
Special Populations (Special Education, ELL)
At least 5 years teaching experience within District 100, preferred
Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills, leadership capacity, and technology literacy
Excellent teaching evaluations
General Job Description:
The essential function of an Instructional Coach is to provide high quality staff development and coaching for all teachers from ‘within the schools’ to have a measurable impact on teaching quality and student achievement. District Instructional Coaches must have the skills needed for developing trusting and open relationships around instruction with the teachers they work with. Coaches use the Danielson Framework for Effective Teaching to coach both teachers with and without tenure. District Instructional Coaches will provide instructional leadership, facilitation and coaching among school based teams, K-12.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides instructional coaching based on the Danielson Framework for Effective Teaching.
Provides mentoring to teachers in years one and two, as assigned.
Provides small-group, whole-faculty, and model lesson PD developed in collaboration with the school’s Principal and the District Curriculum & Instruction team.
Facilitates processes for the improvement of school based initiatives.
May assist the Director of Curriculum with curriculum development as assigned.
District Instructional Coaches may be called upon for extended day as well as extended year professional development and coaching.
Partners with teachers to design quality student learning experiences.
Focus on using data and student work to analyze progress and collaborate to make informed decisions about instruction that is differentiated and needs-based.
Assumes any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Teacher Evaluation Plan.
