Full-Time Faculty Homeroom Teacher, Elementary School The Roeper School is where gifted students love to learn. Be part of the faculty that educates
and inspires gifted students in a student-centric, creative, collaborative educational environment.
The Homeroom Teacher works collaboratively with teacher colleagues to provide an intellectually challenging, creative and differentiated educational program for learners. The Homeroom
Teacher is responsible for coordinating homeroom instruction using a variety of best curricular approaches. Homeroom Teachers also provide guidance to Associate Teachers as they partner to provide an academically strong self-contained classroom.
Role:
  • Collaborate closely with Associate Teacher in coordinating homeroom instruction using a variety of best curricular approaches.
  • Oversee the social and emotional development of the students in the mixed-age classroom. Coordinate key components of daily student life including morning meetings, class meetings, service and leadership opportunities, and class agreements, rituals, and routines.
  • Provide student centered, interdisciplinary and differentiated learning suitable for gifted students.
  • Provide classroom management using Social Emotional Learning (SEL) techniques including Responsive Classroom.
  • Actively guide and encourage growth in the Homeroom and Associate Teacher educational partnership.
  • Develop and manage curriculum for classroom and small groups.
  • Oversee the instruction and supervision of small groups of students performed by Associate Teacher.
  • Utilize knowledge of a variety of instructional and assessment methods, integrated use of technology.
  • Collaborate with other teachers in implementing a multicultural and culturally relevant curriculum
  • Responsible for coordination and collaboration of sharing student learning and progress
  • Maintain effective communication with other teachers, colleagues, and administration.
  • Demonstrate consistent engagement in strong, respectful, and gracious interpersonal and professional communication.
  • Model positive behaviors for students and colleagues that align with the school’s core values, emphasizing social and emotional skills.
  • Collaborate with Lower School faculty on school-wide initiatives and support of education through varied activities
  • Provide support to other teachers and the Lower School to meet the overall mission of The Roeper School.
Skills:
  • Teaching experience providing classroom instruction for preschool through elementary school students.
  • Committed to supporting and collaborating with teachers to contribute and reach learning and classroom objectives.
  • Demonstrated instructional and communication skills.
  • Knowledge or experience working with gifted learners.
  • Ability to form collaborative work relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • A collegial approach and congenial temperament.
Preparation:Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education or related field and three to five years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Consideration: Salaries for the position are based on education and years of classroom teaching experience. Starting salaries with a Bachelor's degree from 41K. Starting salaries with a Master’s degree from 45K.
