Position: Associate Director/Director, Accounting

Summary:

The Associate Director/Director, Accounting has the responsibility of maintaining accurate corporate financial and accounting records as well as helping manage the Finance Department, various special projects, and development and improvement of accounting processes and procedure. Responsibility also includes managing SEC reporting, technical accounting, commercial transactions accounting, including Gross to Net, inventory, rebates and charge backs, Federal and State transparency reporting, various agency pricing and WAC reporting, and transforming the Company's internal controls in compliance with SOX-404.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the VP Controller to automate, document and improve accounting processes. Assist with development and maintenance of internal control structure. Ensure compliance with established controls
  • Lead the team in accounting for commercial transactions, including Gross to Net, inventory, rebates and charge backs, Federal and State transparency reporting, various agency pricing and WAC reporting,
  • Prepare or review technical accounting memos, internal control matrices, and SEC reports
  • Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected
  • Oversees the Sarbanes Oxley activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing and segregation of duties and ensure compliance to SOX 404
  • Manage and review documentation in support of public company annual audits and quarterly reviews including interfacing with auditors and responding to questions. Review audit reports and make process changes as appropriate
  • Oversee the month-end, quarterly and annual financial close and other accounting-related processes including review of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Oversee preparation financial statements, including balance sheets, income statement, and cash flow statement
  • Assist with identification, documentation, and adherence to the Company's financial policies
  • Coordinate and manage outside tax consultants with preparation of tax provisions, R&D and Orphan Drug credit, Section 382 analysis and various Federal and state filings
  • Manage accounting of transactions with subsidiary, transfer pricing, intercompany elimination and consolidation
  • Lead ERP implementation project
  • Hire and manage additional personnel to grow the team. This includes training, goal setting, and performance management. Provide back-up duties as required
  • Ad hoc reporting as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10 years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Exceptional communication skills that provide the ability to interact with all levels of the organization with a high customer service orientation
  • Extensive Board and management slide deck preparation and presentation strongly preferred
  • Creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement
  • High energy team player and individual contributor as needed
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and accurate
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to independently prioritize workload based on organizational needs/demands. Operates with a sense of urgency, as appropriate
  • Self-starter
  • Proficient computer skills specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior Big-4 experience preferred
  • Biotech experience required
  • Biotech or pharma commercial launch accounting experience required
  • CPA license required

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position is $180,000 - $240,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on objective considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. An annual cash bonus and equity grants may be provided as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to a full range of financial, health and wellness benefits, dependent on the position offered.
