Job Description:

The Packaging Lead will report to the Post Production Manager and be responsible for overseeing the quality and accuracy of all packaged/branded cannabis products. Effectively and efficiently maintain the cleanliness of the work area and necessary tools including scales, packaging containers, grinders, pre-roll machine and branding materials. Proper calibration and storage of scales, and ensuring all packages are labeled adhering to all RI cannabis regulations. Maintain an accurate inventory in Canix/METRC seed to sale software and finish sales orders accurately and on time. Must be organized, have strong communication skills, and an ability to direct a team to meet time sensitive deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Weighing, measuring, sorting, labeling, and packaging cannabis products such as edibles, oil cartridges, lotions, roll-ons, topicals, tinctures, capsules, concentrates, flower, and pre-rolls for sale
• Ensures scales are properly calibrated, cleaned, and safely stored
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment
• Accountable for accuracy of package weights and counts through random audits
• Maintain an accurate inventory of packaging containers such as: glass jars, plastic containers, pre-roll tubes, mylar bags, and brand labeling
• Thoroughly clean equipment, hand tools, containers, materials, supplies, and work areas, using cleaning solutions in accordance with the relevant SOPs
• Responsible for operating a variety of automated sorting, batching, and packaging and trimming machinery
• Maintaining quality control by visually inspecting cannabis products and packaging to ensure consistency in product standards; ensuring labeling and product counts are accurate
• Accurately create and print seed to sale stickers
• Report issues and details directly to the Harvest Manager
• Weighing and processing waste material in accordance with state regulations and company policies and procedures
• Work with urgency and accuracy while directing a team to achieve time sensitive deadlines
• Develop and maintain SOP’s specific to packaging needs and guidelines with the assistance of the Harvest Manager
• Assure company SOP’s are being followed
• Trimming/manicuring of cannabis flower continuously for shifts of 8 hours in an efficient and quality-focused manner
• Continued assistance in other areas of production including harvesting, bucking, trimming, cleaning, burping, weighing plants, hanging plants, and curing
• Ensuring quality control for a clean, seedless, pest and pathogen free final product
• Able to perform duties in a timely manner independently and as a team
• Organize Receiving all Deliveries.
• Oversee and train on pre-roll production and accuracy including grinding, sifting, and weighing usable product
• Overseas packaging of all cannabis products
• Responsible for post production staff with the abstinence of harvest manager.
• Ensures Staff is working efficiently
• Trains staff on packaging and harvesting procedures

Qualifications:

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong desire to produce a high-quality product
• Able/willing to meet target production rates in grams per hour of trimmed cannabis flower buds or grams per hour of plant manicuring
• Must be 21 years of age or older

Preferred Experience(but not needed):

• Experience trimming cannabis plants and flower (or cutting/trimming hair)
• Experience working in a regulated environment
• Experience working in a high-volume factory/continuous production line
• Familiarity with agricultural hand tools
• Experience in commercial food production or clean room processes

Working Conditions:

• The person in this position will constantly be exposed to dust, terpenes, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.
• Weekend availability preferred

Physical and Other Requirements:

• Sitting, standing and walking motion/movement will be required throughout the shift (up to 10 hours)
• Constant movement and use of hands/fingers and limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina
• Occasional lifting, positioning or moving items up to 50 pounds
