About the Job
The Payer Credentialing Specialist is responsible for maintaining active status for all providers by successfully completing initial and subsequent credentialing packages as required by the company, commercial payers, Medicare and Medicaid, as necessary. They are responsible for all aspects of the credentialing, re-credentialing for all medical providers who provide patient care. They ensure providers are credentialed.
Responsibilities
Maintains a list of providers per service that includes: Psychologists, LPA, Social Workers, BCBA, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists with information related to submission for enrollment to payers.
Ensures that provider list is current for annual insurance coverage and requests insurance broker for Certificate of Insurance for any additional providers within the year.
Assists New Hires in registration or account creation with CAQH and obtaining National Provider Identifier number.
Ensures that CAQH accounts of assigned providers have the correct information
Ensures that all providers submit updated licenses and or liability insurance.
Maintains accurate provider profiles on CAQH, NPPES, and CMS databases.
Requirements
Knowledge of provider credentialing and its direct impact on the practice’s revenue cycle
1 year of medical credentialing would be nice.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and outside contacts.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
