Horizon Science Academy Primary School is looking for a Special Education Teacher/Intevention Specialist who is committed to educational success for all students to join our family oriented team. Teaching Responsibilities:
- Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers.
- Provide direct instruction based on students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP’s)
- Serve as a member of the IEP Committee and assist with the evaluation, classification, and placement of assigned students within HSAP
- Develop, write and implement Individualized Education Plans
- Address the educational goals and objectives in each students’ Educational Plan by providing differentiated instruction on developmentally appropriate tasks
- Provide a range of instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the different needs of students
- Conduct work in self-contained, team, departmental or itinerant capacity as necessary
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure all modifications are met for special education students
- Ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs are met through creation and implementation of appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment
- Maintain timely and accurate records for documentation of student progress consistent with school policies and procedures
- Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children
- Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment
- Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices
- Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress
- Maintain an organized, attractive and safe classroom environment
- Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and other stakeholders

- Utilize behavior modification techniques to monitor progress and promote growth
- Demonstrate an understanding, respectful and receptive attitude toward the behavioral needs of students
- Uses data to drive instruction

- Has the work ethic and desire to go above and beyond
- Highly organized
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree
- Valid OH teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH teaching certificate/license in subject area to be taught
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. Horizon Science Academy offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision, life and disability coverage. Employees participate in Ohio STRS (state retirement system). Tuition Reimbursement available up to 3K per year.
