OUR ORGANIZATION: The Education Cooperative (TEC) is an educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 17 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner. The TEC Campus School, one of three DESE approved public special education day schools within TEC, is designed for students with multiple disabilities that necessitate a small, structured educational and therapeutic setting to support a wide range of learning, medical, and behavioral needs.At The TEC Campus School, experienced, licensed special educators, related service providers, and nurses along with the support of teaching assistants, provide students with curriculum in the areas of functional academics, communication, motor, vocational, social, recreational, and daily living skills. Working as a team utilizing an integrated related services approach, the TEC Campus staff keep students’ therapeutic, sensory, behavioral, and medical needs at the forefront so that students can access their learning, achieve the goals on their IEPs, and develop the skills that will help them be as successful, healthy, happy, and independent as possible.The TEC Campus School currently serves approximately 55 students ages 3-21. The Assistant Program Director will work with the Program Director to lead and train our staff including 10 special education teachers, over 20 related service providers (SLPs, PTs OT, TVIs, BCBA, APE Teacher, Music Therapist, Literacy Specialist, SLPA) and consultants (AAC, AT, O&M, counselor), and over 20 Teaching Assistants.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Leadership: Develop and model our vision for teaching and learning at TEC Campus School that serves our complex student population in a personalized, highly supportive environmentSupport and assist assigned staff in providing all students with an effective instructional program through frequent classroom visits and provision of professional developmentLead staff in implementing all special education requirements, including but not limited to: TEAM meetings, IEP compliance, appropriate instruction and modifications, implementing behavioral plans, assessments and progress reportsCoordinate with districts and other outside agencies as needed to support the IEP process and delivery of services and/or equipmentServe as the EL Coordinator for EL services, Language Acquisition Teams, and ACCESS testing requirementsOversee the MCAS Alternate Portfolio process for all studentsAssist with organization and implementation of new curriculum resourcesSupport the development and implementation of community-based learning for vocational, functional, recreational, and social learningManagement and Operations: -Assist in the admissions process under the direction of the Program Director, in particular screening and observing referrals-Work directly with Human Resources on staffing needs including: reviewing applications, interviewing, and assisting in onboarding and training new staff-Plan and oversee scheduling and other structures to support student learning, such as staff schedules and coverage, technology needs, van schedules, and efficient arrival and dismissal-Oversee Common Area Committees and directly support the maintenance and development of common areas in the TEC Campus School-Supervise student teachers and coordinate other observations or connections with local college teacher preparation programs as needed-Maintain accurate student and staff records-Administer and enforce all school policies and procedures and recommend changes as needed -Adhere to all relevant legal processes and procedural timelines when addressing student issues Family and Community Engagement: -Ensure regular, positive, and culturally responsive communication with sending school districts, families and appropriate human service agencies in regards to the IEP, referral, and transition processes-Participate in planning and implementation of school-wide and family eventsProfessional Culture: -Support a professional culture focused on a shared vision and sustained commitment to achieve the mission of TEC Campus SchoolIn collaboration with the Program Director, design and lead professional development for TEC Campus School staff in alignment with identified needs -Evaluate personnel in accordance with DESE guidelines -Facilitate the daily communication between staff members in order to support the complex needs of every student-Work with the Program Director to consistently align the TEC Campus School practices with the TEC Strategic Plan
