**Adjunct Faculty Yoga Studies**

We are searching for an experienced Adjunct Faculty Yoga Studies at our 2111 Arapahoe facility.

**Position Title:** Adjunct Faculty Yoga Studies

**# of Positions to Fill:** 4 (3 Yoga I Classes in the Fall 22, 1 in the Spring 23)

**Remote Work Authorization:** 100% On-Site

**Department/Program:** Traditional Arts 11110

**Campus Location:** 2111 Arapahoe

**Reports to:** Amelia Hall

**FLSA Classification:** Exempt/Salaried

**FTE:** 15% (6 hrs/week)

**Compensation:** Up to $3323.28 based on Naropa experience

**Job Summary**

**Course Description:**TRA-133 Yoga I: Foundations (3 Credits)

This course is an introduction to the traditions of yoga. Students gain both an understanding of yoga in its historical and social context and an experience of its methods, which constitute an in-depth exploration of body, breath and mind. Students engage with the practices of ?sana (postures designed to generate sensate awareness, alignment, strength and calm), pr???y?ma (breath awareness and cultivation), pratyahara, dh?rana and dhyana (meditation practices).

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**

Submit the syllabus to the Office of Academic Affairs by the specified date. The faculty will teach from an existing syllabus and existing Canvas course shell.

Teach the course/s for the full Fall and Spring semester of academic year 2022-2023. The number of required contact hours equivalent to 15 hours per credit, delivered as 3 hours per week.

Teach with a professional level of preparedness.

Provide one hour of office hours each week plus availability to students by appointment through meetings, phone or e-mail as needed.

Attend online faculty meetings during the semesters of this teaching assignment, as needed.

Obtain permission from the copyright owner for any copyrighted material to be used in sourcebooks.

Complete any and all faculty and staff trainings as required by the Human Resources Office or the Office of Academic Affairs within the time period set for completion by those departments.

Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.

Grades all assignments, provides feedback to students in a timely manner, and submits final grades by the deadline established by the Registrar.

Submits grading and attendance data into the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) in a timely manner.

Mentors students outside of class through online meetings, phone or e-mail, as needed.

Supports the Core Curriculum assessment process as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

**What We Require**

5 Years of study in yoga practice, history and philosophy.

Yoga Teacher Training equivalent to 500 hours or more.

Masters Degree required with the preferred degrees in Yoga Studies, Religious Studies, Education and Psychology or something similar

**What Wed Like You to Have**

An extensive background in both the study and teaching of the practices, histories and philosophies of yoga.

Familiarity and experience within the Yoga Studies program at Naropa University.

Skills in both academic writing and evaluation.

**Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions**Faculty members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:

Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.

Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.

Standing or sitting for hours at a time.

Moving around campus for classes and meetings.
