The League School is seeking High School teacher/Special Ed teacher, High School Math, Earth Science, ELA, Social Studies, or Living Environment/Students with Disabilities NYS certified teachers to teach high school courses to special needs students working to earn a high school diploma. The high school classes consist of a maximum of 8 students.

We offer professional development and collaboration with interdisciplinary team on using a trauma informed approach, restorative practices, and DBT strategies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students based on IEP goals utilizing appropriate assessment tools
• Write annual goals, behavioral objectives and intervention strategies corresponding with assessment in consultation with other disciplines
• Evaluate student progress on an on-going basis
• Prepare weekly lesson plans according to a planned sequence with IEP goals and plan/share with teacher assistants
• Instruct and supervise teacher assistants and substitute teacher assistants in appropriate techniques to work effectively with children
• Participates in program planning and interdisciplinary team meetings

Education and Qualifications:

• BA needed, Masters preferred.
• NYS certification in ELA, Math Gr 7-12 and/or Students with Disabilities Gr 7-12.
• NYS certification in Earth Science, Living Environment, Social Studies, Gr 7-12 and/or Students with Disabilities Gr 7-12.

Qualified candidates must have experience teaching in special education setting, preferably with students with mental health issues.
