Position: Substance Use Treatment Clinical Supervisor

Reports to: Clinical Director

Status: Full Time, Exempt

Schedule: Flexible

Estimated annual pay from $57,000 to $60,000.

JOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Substance Use Treatment Clinical Supervisor is to provide clinical supervision of the treatment services provided by the residential and outpatient counseling staff to ensure that all integrated substance use disorder treatment program service delivery, licensing, accreditation and best practices and contract standards/procedures are met. Supervisor may cover and/or maintain a small client caseload.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (CSAC) and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience required. Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) certification and/or master’s degree in a behavioral health discipline preferred. Preference for a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a residential substance use treatment facility for women and/or supervisory or managerial role in any accredited substance use treatment program. Personal vehicle and valid Hawaii State driver license required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides supervision, selection, orientation and training of substance abuse counselors and completes annual employee performance evaluations as well as provides any training or disciplinary actions as needed. Provides direct counseling services and coverage as needed.
  • Collaborates with other program coordinators and supervisors and ensure quality treatment services across the continuum as part of Program Management and contributes to ongoing substance use treatment program development overall program support through active participation in the Joint Management Team.
  • Supports quality improvement in accordance with all licensing, accreditation, and contract standards in coordination with the Continuum Counselor and QI and Data Tech.
  • Ensures that program treatment requirements as identified in licensing, accreditation and contract agreements are met appropriately. Requirements could include updating program schedules and handbooks, client documents and agency policies related to substance use treatment programming.
  • Support Directors and teams with reporting responsibilities and requirements.
  • Conducts bi-monthly clinical staff meetings and chairs weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Participates in advocacy and education efforts in the community and with state partners in gender responsive treatment services.
  • Maintains knowledge on research and best practices related to gender responsive treatment and makes recommendations to the Clinical Director for program development based on evidence-based assessments and tools.
  • In accordance with census needs, may support counseling team as a direct service provider, including some counseling, treatment planning and facilitation.
  • Maintains work area in a neat, orderly and sanitary manner.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs other related management duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Able to meet basic standards of physical, mental health, and communication demands. Specified by State and/or professional accreditation standards applicable to this agency. Initial/Annual criminal background check, pre-employment, annual physical examination, CPR/first aid, TB test, and driver abstract compliance with agency policy are required.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most work will be indoors and occasionally outdoors. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required.
