Interim Shelter Operations Lead
Fayette Friends of Animals
Location: Fayette County
Salary: $18- $20/hr
Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time or Part-Time (Flexible)
Position Duration: 6 Months
Position Overview:
The Interim Shelter Operations Lead is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the animal shelter during a period of transition or leadership absence. This pivotal role not only ensures operational continuity and compliance but also spearheads the development and implementation of policies and procedures aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency and regulatory adherence. The candidate will uphold and foster a positive organizational culture, enriching the work environment and promoting superior customer service interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of the shelter’s day-to-day operations, including animal care protocols, adoption procedures, and facilities maintenance.
Policy and Procedure Development: Formulate and refine operational policies and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency and ensure adherence to the latest regulatory standards. Ensure implementation of operational policies and procedures
Strategic Staff Management: Lead and support the shelter staff by providing direction, training, and performance feedback, emphasizing the development of a cohesive and supportive work environment.
Culture Enhancement: Cultivate a positive organizational culture that values compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Customer Service Excellence: Ensure that all interactions between staff and the public are conducted with professionalism and empathy, striving to provide an outstanding customer service experience.
Animal Care Supervision: Oversee the comprehensive care of shelter animals, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being through meticulous management and adherence to established welfare protocols.
Facility Management: Monitor and maintain the physical environment of the shelter, coordinating necessary repairs and improvements to meet safety and operational standards.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key liaison with external partners, volunteers, and community groups, maintaining clear and effective communication to foster strong relationships.
Administrative Oversight: Handle administrative duties including the management of animal and staff records, the utilization of shelter software, and the preparation of monthly reports
Qualifications:
- Proven track record in management within animal shelters, veterinary clinics, or related fields.
- Demonstrable capability to quickly adapt to new roles and environments, with a strong focus on operational leadership.
- Robust leadership skills, coupled with effective organizational and communication abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of animal health and behavior, as well as regulatory standards applicable to animal welfare.
- Flexibility in response to the dynamic needs of the organization and its stakeholders.
