Being a bar back at Barcadia is one of the most difficult yet rewarding jobs. Typically a bar back is the first employee to arrive and the last to leave, the workload and amount of responsibility is greater than that of any other employee. While the job is difficult, it is extremely rewarding. Employees interested in moving up within the company to a bartending shift must master this position in order to have a fighting chance.
The bar back is basically the bartender’s assistant; in essence the bar back is responsible for making the bartender’s shift as smooth as possible. Bar floor mats, spill mats, napkin caddies, ice, fruit trays and fruit, and inventory stocking are just a few things that you will be responsible for.
Being a bar back at Barcadia, you will have day-to-day interaction with our Guests. Sharing your “people pleasing personality” with our Guests is what Barcadia is all about. In addition to buying great food, Guests are buying “great feelings”. A Barcadia guest is sure to visit us again when they have enjoyed a memorable experience. Below is a brief summary of your duties and responsibilities you will have as a Bar back for Barcadia. You may be responsible for other duties assigned by your manager.
  • Follow sanitation guidelines
  • Adhere to safety procedures
  • Practice cost-cutting measures
  • Pitch in and work as part of a team
  • Practice key Bar Back skills and responsibilities
  • Report to work
  • Perform opening procedures
  • Perform ongoing duties
  • Perform operating procedures
  • Work in the kitchen, bar, and dish areas
  • Handle Guest relations issues and inform a manager
  • Train and guide other Bar Backs as requested by your manager.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by your manager
  • Perform closing procedures
  • Depart from work
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous bar and/or restaurant experience preferred
  • High endurance level required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds, unassisted
  • Stand for long periods.
  • Bending, stretching, kneeling throughout shift.
  • Exposure to basic cleaning chemicals
