Project Manager, WDC- Stem Expansion

Grant Overview:
Located at the Evendale campus, this division serves local businesses and individual students in developing industry-relevant skills for today’s changing workplace. As a separate profit center, the WDC supports the college mission by offering custom, fast-paced programs that help people gain skills quickly and set them up for future professional and academic success.
The Project Manager reports to the Senior Director of the Workforce Development Center and will serve to manage and advance the targeted outcomes related to the US Department of Defense –Industrial Base grant. This grant is part of a consortium led by Lorain Community College. Cincinnati State is one of several community colleges across the State of Ohio who have been awarded funds to increase the qualified workforce in advanced manufacturing.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to utilize tools such as FlexFactor to positively impact enrollment in the fields of Automation, Robotics, and Digital Thread.
lead an initiative to implement FlexFactor (an innovative project management curriculum developed by NextFlex) in local school districts in Hamilton and Butler Counties, coordinate the development of new curriculum with input from business leaders, recruit students into short-term credentials related to advanced manufacturing, and manage the reporting requirements of the grant.
  • In keeping with the College's mission to provide industry-relevant workforce training, Cincinnati State anticipates participation in the US Department of Defense – Increasing the Pipeline grant will enhance the skill capacity of the region, and position Cincinnati State as a leading resource for technical training to support the manufacturing technologies of the future. This position will have contact with Workforce Development staff and administrators, the admissions staff, students, businesses, industry, professional organizations, educational partners, and community resources.
This position is grant funded through August 31, 2025.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the FlexFactor program, including the development of new programs and start up process, program delivery, retention of programs, and corporate and college visits
  • Oversee all event management activities supporting major special events in promotion of the DoD-Increasing the Pipeline grant
  • Identify and secure resources to execute the delivery of the award-specified outcomes such as curriculum development. This will include selecting, engaging, and managing independent contractors, and vendors
  • Provide internal leadership and management for business advisory groups related to advanced manufacturing at the Workforce Development Center
  • Provide project management for the deployment and reporting of the Defense Workforce Pipeline grant with guidance from Cincinnati State’s finance department and under the direction of Lorain Community College
  • Responsible for financial management, reporting, and documentation related to the expenditure of the grant award and college funds supporting the project
  • Track progress and matriculation of FlexFactor students
  • Develop and produce reports on grant activities and outcomes
  • Prepare presentations, reports, spreadsheets, meeting minutes, and other business information with accuracy
  • Collaborate with front office team to produce and promote marketing messages through social media channels
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities, and use discretion in interaction with all individuals – internally and externally
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Minimum of two years working directly with school district administrators and teachers (Ohio Technical Centers or K-12)
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a project manager
  • Minimum of one year experience in event management
  • Strong organizational skills and an exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to balance workload under short deadlines and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office: Advanced proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, functional proficiency in Access
  • Internet proficiency and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP or CPM) Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in event management

In order to provide clear expectations and promote the Project Managers success, several performance measures have been established. The indicators and the measurements used to evaluate them include the following:

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/move packages (up to 25 lbs.) on an intermittent basis
