The New American Association of Massachusetts (NAAM) is a non-profit organization that provides social support services to refugees and immigrants in northeastern Massachusetts. Core services include: ESOL classes, employment, case management, citizenship, youth programming, and more. NAAMs Youth Program serves immigrant and refugee youth ages 0-24 through afterschool and summer programs, tutoring, mentoring, family engagement, and much more. We are currently hiring for a number of short-term positions for our Lynn summer youth program. NAAM is currently hiring a Middle/High School Math Teacher for the summer program (July 8th - August 15, 2024), Monday-Wednesday afternoons; optional Thursday field trips. The Middle/High School Academic Teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching math classes for small groups of students. Classes should review essential skills and integrate language learning into the curriculum. Middle/High School math teachers or education students, especially those with experience with SLIFE, are strongly encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Must have experience working with youth Must be dependable, flexible, and compassionate Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and comfortable working in-person Preferred Qualifications: Experience (either professional or personal) with English Learners and immigrants Teaching experience in a classroom or out-of-school time program Be familiar with Lynn and the North Shore Knowledge of another language, especially Pashto, Dari, Haitian Creole, Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese, or Spanish Applicants from immigrant or multicultural backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply
