Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Crisis Counselor to join our team. The Crisis Counselor will provide immediate crisis intervention services to individuals in need of mental health support.
Duties:
- Conduct crisis assessments and provide immediate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate situations effectively
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop crisis management plans
- Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals in distress
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Utilize clinical counseling techniques such as motivational interviewing and group therapy
- Assist in data collection and reporting for program evaluation purposes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and best practices
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding for mental health diagnoses
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments
- Crisis training completed with the state of VA
