Join Our Team: Experienced Immigration Legal Assistant/Paralegal Wanted

Our law firm is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of immigrants and their families. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys in the preparation and management of a wide range of family-related based petitions, business immigration, consular processing, and cases before the immigration court.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and file various USCIS petitions and applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the current immigration laws.

- Assist attorneys in the preparation for immigration court cases, including gathering necessary documentation and client information.

- Provide support in managing caseloads involving family-based immigration matters.

- Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, address concerns, and provide updates on case progress.

- Prepare correspondence.

- Ensure timely and organized filing of all legal documents.

- Prepare first draft of Motions in removal and deportation proceedings cases, and assemble the same for filing.

- Translate any necessary documents in support of USCIS petitions, from Spanish to English.

Required Qualifications:

- At least three years of experience as an Immigration Legal Assistant or Paralegal.

- Must be available to work Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm and Fridays from 8:00 to 2:00 pm in person – this is not a hybrid or remote position.

- Fluent in Spanish, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate with our diverse client base.

- Must be able to translate written documents and be an interpreter whenever needed, as well as explain the content of petitions and all case-related information in English and Spanish, as needed.

- Strong understanding of USCIS procedures, immigration court processes, and regulatory requirements.

- Ability to handle multiple cases with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail.

- Must be able to draft correspondence to clients, the court and government agencies associated with the cases.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.

- Experience in handling business immigration petitions is preferred but not required.

- Experience in using immigration case management software is also preferred but not required.
