Britton Marketing and Design Group
is in search of a Copywriter to join our team! The successful candidate must be passionate about writing and brand storytelling in various forms, including print and digital. Our ideal candidate would be a writer, editor, and creative strategist all in one, who is able to confidently present their own work to clients. Must be adept at creative writing and have experience working closely with creative directors, art directors, and digital teams to transform compelling and imaginative concepts into successful and effective brand stories. You must have the ability to write in a variety of voices and styles for an array of brands and audiences, with a strong focus on lifestyle and fashion/home areas of consumer marketing. As a marketing agency, our capabilities include strategy and planning, creative services, and digital services.

Specific responsibilities of the Copywriter include:

  • Work with creative and art directors, and digital team on creative concepts and copy, with versatility for a variety of clients across all media (print, digital, social).
  • Think strategically, generate breakthrough ideas that are compelling and imaginative to ensure messaging aligns with the client and the target audience.
  • Excellent presentation skills to confidently present and explain concepts to clients and internal team.
  • Strong initiative: required to work on several assignments simultaneously under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Edit and proof copy for accuracy, grammar, and punctuation; review final projects.
  • Work with account manager and traffic manager regarding project deadlines and budget.
  • Team player, collaborator, working with all BMD departments.
  • Develop strong, positive client working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support the agency’s creative goals and our clients’ business objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal skills in a professional, comprehensive, and inspiring manner.
  • Able to listen and comprehend client needs and translate those details into successful projects.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, or a related field required
  • 3 - 5 years’ "on the job" experience as a copywriter and editor with a marketing or advertising agency
  • Possess strong Mac computer skills, utilizing Microsoft Office, and Excel on a Mac OSX platform
  • Ability to work directly in InDesign creative files, PowerPoint, and Keynote
  • Strong working knowledge of AP Style guidelines
  • A meticulous writer with an eagle eye for editing and proofing
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent, proven presentation skills
  • Open-minded and active listening skills
  • Capability to understand and utilize a variety of agency resources, software, and server protocols
  • Strong conceptual thinking and highly developed copywriting skills; desire to push the boundaries of creative excellence The understanding that content must be enriching, meaningful, and useful to the consumer-should have a way with words and understand the power of a good story
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be a team player and a positive and innovative thinker; must work well with creative and core team members to achieve client satisfaction
