Project Manager/Estimator at Citadel Electric requires a strong background in the electrical contracting and construction industry. The ideal candidate will have experience from projects with end users such as the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), and private sector clients. Our project managers are supported by a robust accounting department, large prefabrication shop, dedicated BIM/VDC staff, over 150 hard working field electricians, a Safety Director, and a team of project coordinators. Our clients consist of the top General Contractors in the Kansas City Area, Disadvantage Business Enterprises (8A, SDVOSB, etc), and end users such as the Department of Veteran Affairs.
essential job duties:
1. Manage and oversee electrical construction and service projects from conception to completion.
2. Be the front-line leader and face of the company for projects and estimates you lead.
3. Develop and cultivate relationships with project owners, general contractors, and designers.
4. Prepare detailed estimates and bids based off designed plans and specs for projects exceeding $10 million.
5. Prepare detailed estimates and bids based off conceptual narratives and RFPs for projects exceeding $10 million.
6. Prepare and negotiate change orders.
7. Frequently visit job sites to 1) engage our field staff and leadership, 2) spend time with the client, 3) measure progress and cost to complete. 4) evaluate schedule and manpower.
8. Help develop project and company-wide prefabrication strategies.
9. Review and approve VDC content for prefabrication and field use.
10. Prepare and handle project submittals.
11. Prepare and issue scopes of work to subcontractors in a subcontract format via DocuSign.
12. Develop and cultivate relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members
13. Review material quotes and issue purchase orders.
14. Understand, review, and negotiate construction contracts.
15. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
16. Be knowledgeable of industry trends, code changes, new products, and new installation methods
17. Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
18. Train and mentor Project Coordinators to support project management tasks.
Qualifications:
1. Preferred 5 years of field experience in the electrical construction or service industry.
2. Preferred 5 years of project management and estimating experience in the electrical contracting industry.
3. While a college degree is not required, candidates with relevant college experience will be given consideration.
4. Proficient in Bluebeam, Office 365 Suite, Navisworks, and electrical estimating software (we use the Accubid Classic Suite).
5. Tech savvy and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
6. Must be able to pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license, and a driving record that meets company requirements
7. Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
8. Ability to work under pressure and solve problems independently.
