The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre was founded by Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh in 1999 and operates Theaters and Training Centers in New York & Los Angeles.


Job Description

Upright Citizens Brigade is hiring temporary part-time Weekend Event Staff to join our team for limited 6-month terms for our performance and teaching venues. This position reports to the Venue Manager and works 5-hour shifts on Saturday and/or Sunday mornings and afternoons only.

Ideal candidates are superfans of all things UCB or current UCB students with a strong familiarity with how our live improv and sketch shows run. In addition to an hourly wage, UCB Event Staff receive 80% discounts on classes at UCB.

Weekend Seasonal Event Staff can expect to commit to a consistent weekly schedule to work 2 shifts/weekend in 2-person staff teams at our recently-opened Training Center facility in Union Square. Shifts can be 5 hours long, and you must be available to work every Saturday and/or Sunday morning and afternoon.

Job Details:

  • Reports to the Venue Manager, responsible for ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Responsible for managing sound, lighting and video recording of shows.
  • Maintains the lobby's appearance and nightly cleaning duties and all public areas.
  • Helps in safely loading and unloading all audiences during and after performances.
  • Processing ticket sales using a computerized ticketing system
  • Processing concessions using a computerized cashier system
  • Providing general events and exhibition information for the public
  • Managing patrons in an outside line

Qualifications
  • Previous performing arts box office experience
  • Computer skills: emailing, reporting, Google Calendar, Google Sheets and Eventbrite administration
  • Experience running a live theatre sound board & light board a plus.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, afternoons, and weekends.
  • Skill in guest relations, phone etiquette, filing, multi-task environment, and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate, work well with others, and work in a high-volume, public-facing, and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain proper etiquette around high-profile performers and guests.

Compensation:

  • $16.00/hour
