Overview:

We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Biller to join our healthcare team in Brooklyn, NY. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims, facilitating reimbursement, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization while providing essential support to patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for diagnoses, procedures, and services.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely reimbursement.
  • Verify insurance coverage, handle inquiries, and assist with appeals.
  • Manage patient billing, including generating statements and providing support.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Collaborate with team members and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues.
  • Stay updated on healthcare regulations and coding guidelines.
  • Assist in financial reporting and analysis related to billing.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and participate in team initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Medical Biller or similar role in a healthcare setting, preferably in a medical office or clinic environment.
  • Proficiency in medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing software (e.g., Epic, Meditech, NextGen).
  • Strong understanding of insurance procedures, billing regulations, and reimbursement guidelines, particularly for commercial and government payers (Medicare, Medicaid).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review and interpret complex medical records and billing documents accurately.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
  • High level of organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CPB) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field is advantageous.
