Since opening in 1998, The Tech Interactive has been an integral part of the San Francisco Bay area and is proud to serve families and young people through hands-on activities, experimental labs, and design challenge experiences.

Position Summary

The Events Lead provides support in the staffing and execution of special events and facility rentals at The Tech Interactive. Primary duties include assisting guests with hands-on learning experiences, performing operational duties and acting as a back-up for the Event Supervisor as needed. The position requires flexible availability, primarily during evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Special Events and Sales Director and will be scheduled based on the event calendar. 

Responsibilities

• Attend an event briefing prior to the start of the event in order to execute all aspects of the event.
• Support coordination for load-in, setup and teardown of events and ensure that procedures are followed and problems solved. 
• Assist with end-of-event walk-through with caterers and vendors, ensuring all requirements are met to leave the facility clean and free of damage, and complete end-of-event report.
• Serve as one of the on-site support contacts for clients during events and maintain hands-on event support during the event. Ensure excellent guest service throughout the event.
• Assist with volunteer assignments and coordinate breaks as needed.
• Participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions.
• Communicate with the Engineering, Audio/Visual, and Facilities staff to assure that all exhibits, electronics and lighting in the gallery are functioning properly.
• Attend weekly Special Events meeting and other meetings when possible.
• Maintain current knowledge about The Tech’s programs, IMAX films, exhibits and other guest-related information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

• Minimum 2 year experience in customer service, event coordination and/or execution. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field such as hospitality or marketing preferred.
• Display excellent customer service, public speaking and listening skills and adhere to The Tech’s grooming guidelines.
• Ability to publicly introduce our venue space and perform in person site tours and walkthroughs and our mission when welcoming clients to our facilities.
• Adaptability learning and utilizing multiple software and cloud based programs, including, but not limited to Google Suite, When to Work, Tripleseat.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 Working Conditions and Schedule

• Flexible schedule, availability to make yourself available to pick a minimum of 50% of shifts requested.
• Ability to work in a public setting interacting with visitors and follow required safety protocols.
• Excellent customer service, public speaking and listening skills.
• Ability to adhere to The Tech’s grooming guidelines. Project a professional image during an event.
• Physical ability to lift and move furniture around for up to 50 lbs during set up and tear down.
