Idaho State-Civic Symphony Association (ISCS) is the independent 501(c)(3) organization fostering, promoting, and supporting the goals of the Idaho State-Civic Symphony, a highly successful, decades-old collaboration with Idaho State University (ISU) in Pocatello, Idaho.

• The Symphony is a unique 75-85 member orchestra recognized as both the leading performing arts organization in the region and a teaching ensemble for Idaho State University. It is comprised of ISU Department of Music faculty, ISU music students, and professional and community musicians. It presents an average of seven high-level professional concert performances annually to full-house audiences of

every age and background. Additionally, the Symphony and a 60-75
member Youth Orchestra reach up to 5,000 students annually through community outreach programs.

• Our motto is ”Making Magic and Changing Lives in our Spectacular Home.” We shared the magic of music even through the pandemic, by providing classical concerts in an all-virtual 2020-2021 season, at no charge to our viewing audience. Since then, we have returned to traditional in-house concert audiences, full schedules for our Youth Orchestra, outreach programs, and the hosting of special non-concert events.

• Our performance "home" is the acoustically-acclaimed Jensen Grand Concert Hall (seating 1200) in ISU's Stephens Performing Arts Center, rated fourth (4th) among the 25 Most Noted University Performing Arts Centers in the United States by BEST VALUE SCHOOLS in 2020.

• The community of Pocatello-Chubbuck in Southeastern Idaho comprises some 70,000 residents and has a proud history of manufacturing, railroad, and agricultural economies known throughout the western United States. It is a hub for recreational and outdoor enthusiasts, boasting its own ski area and biking/hiking trails within minutes of the city. World-acclaimed resort towns, Sun Valley, Idaho, and Jackson, Wyoming, are scenic 2 ½ hour drives from Pocatello. At a similar distance is Salt Lake City Metro area and nearby Park City Mountain Resort.

• Salary will be $55,000 to $60,000 commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with the expectation of attendance outside of the normal working day at ISCS concerts and other Symphony events that may occur in the evenings and/or on a weekend.

POSITION SUMMARY ------------------------------------------

The Director of Symphony Operations (DSO) will report to the Board of Directors, supervise staff, and support orchestra personnel. In collaboration with the ISCS Conductor/Artistic Director and the Board of Directors, the DSO will provide leadership in development, management, marketing, and administration to achieve the artistic, financial, and community engagement goals of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS -------------------------------------

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, and leadership role(s) in a music-related or non-profit organization: preferred.

• Experience in fundraising and resource development, including grant writing and maintaining and developing relationships with sponsors and individual donors: preferred.

• Marketing experience, including social media and website management, virtual presentations, public relations, and audience development.

• Commitment to collaboration with community partners, including the ISU Department of Music.

• Strong aptitude for written communications, verbal presentations, and relationship development.
