West Asheville community natural food store & deli is looking for an awesome and committed kitchen worker. We are looking for someone with a passion for cooking delicious healthy food. The main goal of this position is to take advantage of the overflow of produce from our produce department and be able to put together soups, salads, entrees and desserts that utilize these ingredients. It is important to have prior experience and interest in cooking creatively. Thinking on your feet and executing tasks quickly and efficiently is a must. We are a small team that cranks it out, with a priority on service, multi-tasking and cooperation in the kitchen. We have a very friendly vibe, while at the same time a strong work ethic and commitment to customer satisfaction and quality food. Our deli is grab-and-go only (at this time... may evolve), and does not require active customer service. Good time management skills are a must, as is a cooperative attitude and high regard for cleanliness and efficiency. Familiarity with natural foods and experience in the food service industry is important.

A willingness to fill in where necessary is also required. There will be days when the produce department does not have overflow or the Deli needs more help with basic offerings such as sandwiches and standard deli salads. Other tasks may include slicing meats and cheeses, prepping vegetables or baking ingredients.

This shift can be more flexible with any scheduling needs but will be mostly set once hours are decided upon. We are looking for 12-15 hours per week. Hours may be split up into 2-3 days. Hours may change/vary as time goes on. A good candidate should be self-motivated and reliable as they may occasionally be required to work alone in the kitchen, although there will always be other people working in the grocery department.
