Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino is Hiring a H6000 HISTORIAN TRIBAL Near Mescalero, NM

Position Title: Marketing IMG and Tribal Historian (part-time position)

Reports To: Marketing Director

Supervises: N/A

Summary of Position:

This position will begin organizing historical information and data for the Inn of the Mountain Gods Enterprises: includes Ski Apache, Casino Apache. They will also organize historical information regarding the Mescalero Apache Tribe. This includes historical information of the Mescalero, Chiricahua and Lipan Apaches, the development of the reservation and any business endeavors, historical events, tribal leadership, tribal programs, the history of the Red Hats and Hot Shot forest fighters, the significant of the Land and its people, and the surrounding communities.   1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and are subject to change at management’s discretion:
  • Maintains the work flow of creation and completion of all materials, publications and production pieces of the creative team.
  • Assures that work produced conforms to the established standards as outlined in the Inn of the Mountain Gods Branding Standards Manual.
  • Assures that work produced is factual and approved before posting or sharing on any platform, website, or publication.
  • Works closely with Marketing Director and/or the Advertising Manager to assure consistency, quality and timeliness among all produced pieces. Including accuracy and timeliness of all material posted at properties.
  • Responsible for maintaining calendar of events important to the enterprises and the Mescalero Apache Tribe.
  • Completes production by working closely with Marketing Director and Advertising Marketing Manager on scheduling and project completion; monitoring progress; revising schedules; reporting results of the work produced weekly and monthly.
  • Distributes marketing materials to all Tribal businesses to ensure information is available.
  • Reports illegal or suspicious activity to Security, Gaming and the appropriate levels of Management.
  • Any other duties or task assigned for the success of the company and organization.
  1. Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisor responsibilities.

  1. Education and/or Experience Requirement

To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have basic knowledge of Macintosh and PC computers and popular graphics industry software including but not limited to Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, the Microsoft Office Suite and similar programs. Must be able to maximize input and output devices such as printers, digital signage, and other peripherals and send/receive materials via the internet. Must have excellent project management and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Must be able to use a digital camera or tablet for the purpose of interviewing and producing content.

  • High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of one year experience in Marketing Experience
  • Preferably fluent in both Spanish and English and Apache
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license
  • Mescalero Apache Tribal preference
  • Bicultural experience preferred
  • Must be able to research history and verify historical data and create reports and content.
  • Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, Excel, Photoshop, property telephone systems, Social Media Platforms and website management.
  • Must be able to created content questions and interview subjects for information and video content for production and use.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a NM Drivers License.
