Child Care Teacher

Job Description

LearnRGV is looking for highly qualified childcare teachers to love, nurture, care for, and teach our children.

Job Type: Full Time/Part-Time

Minimum Qualifications:

● Have a high school diploma or GED

● TB screening (May do upon hire)

● CPR/First Aid Certified (May do upon hire)

● Clear Background and Fingerprinting (May do upon hire)

Job Responsibilities:

● Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

● Manage student behavior in accordance with texas health & human services operational discipline & guidance policy

● Communicating with parents effectively regarding the well being and care of their child through frequent verbal and/or electronic communication

● Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities

● Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience

● Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures

● Ensure that no child is abused, neglected, or exploited while in the care of the center

● Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to DFPS as specified in the

Texas Family Code, §261.101.

● Know and comply with the minimum standards for child-care centers

● Know which children you are responsible for and Know each child’s name and have information showing each child’s age

● Supervise children at all times

● Ensure the children are not out of control

● Interact with children in a positive manner

● Foster developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities

● Foster a cooperative rather than a competitive atmosphere

● Show appreciation of children’s efforts and accomplishments

● Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregivers information about each child’s activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written instructions given by the parent.
