Summary: The Coordinator of Lifelong Learning helps direct MACC’s efforts to offer continuing education programs to a variety of constituencies. Collaborating with the President, faculty, the Director of Student Affairs, and administrative staff, the Associate Director has four major functions: (1) coordinate and lead offerings for MACC’s Hispanic Ministry in the 21st Century and the Rural Ministry immersion programs; (2) coordinate workshop offerings on Intercultural Competencies; (3) help coordinate the V Encuentro Young Adult Hispanic Leadership Initiative; and 4) coordinate the language programs at MACC.

Position Responsibilities: 

 Hispanic Ministry and Rural Ministry Immersion Programs Coordination

  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to offer the Hispanic Ministry in the 21st Century Winter Immersion Program. This includes the calendaring of the event and related talks and presentations, ensuring faculty and other presenters are engaged for the academic part during the event, and ensuring all details of the group’s stay at MACC and the U.S.-Mexico border are planned and confirmed with relevant MACC staff and other organizations.
  • Accompany the Hispanic Ministry in the 21st Century participants during their immersion, including the trip to the border.
  • Coordinate with MACC faculty and partners to identify and register students for the Rural Ministry Summer Immersion Program at Saint John University’s School of Theology and Seminary.
  • Ensure that Saint John University’s School of Theology and Seminary staff registers MACC students in the Rural Ministry Summer Immersion Program at the School of Theology and Seminary. This also includes purchasing the students’ airplane tickets for travel.

Language Programs Coordination (Ongoing, but mostly summer)

  • Works with faculty, staff, and partners to promote the English as a New Language program and the Spanish as a New Language program, especially the summer intensive programs.
  • Works to communicate with prospective students regarding the program of interest, its costs, and related issues. Ensures the housing and instructor availability for each program are planned and matched.
  • Coordinates with faculty so they can assess the prospective student’s level of language knowledge so they can be placed at the appropriate level when they start their program at MACC. Coordinates with MACC instructors and operations staff to set up program dates and ensure the availability of faculty and facilities to deliver the programs.

VEYAHLI Program

  • Works with the President and the Learning Pedagogy Consultant to implement the V Encuentro Young Adult Hispanic Leadership Initiative. This includes setting up planning meetings, contacting possible diocesan partners, supporting the Consultant with the learning management platform, course review, and maintaining the list of students in the program.
  • Enrolling participants in the program; scheduling follow-up Zoom meetings with Diocesan Directors and participants during the year to encourage follow-up in the program and sharing of lessons learned.

Intercultural Competencies Workshops 

  • Works with faculty, staff and partners to promote MACC’s workshops on Intercultural Competencies, especially the summer workshop. o Keeps a detailed list of inquiries and provides information to interested participants with regards to registration and associated costs of the workshop
  • Coordinates with MACC faculty and operations staff to set up workshop dates and ensure availability of faculty and facilities to deliver the workshops. 

Pastoral and Campus activities

  • Prepare/motivate for important events or celebrations for the MACC community such as: Day of the Dead, lighting of the Advent wreath, Fiesta and mañanitas for Our Lady of Guadalupe, prayer rituals for Staff days, Ash Wednesday, Candlemas Day, Funerals, Blessings and Classroom Dedications, Prayers to during Orientation Day and gatherings for some special programs, and others as required.
  • Prepare the sacristy and the altar for the weekly Mass. 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Coordinates with Accounting staff to create invoices for participants or their dioceses.
  • Gathering and maintaining data about the four areas of responsibility so it may be used for reports and accounting. 
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols daily and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory. • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned from time to time. 

Requirements

• Education

Bachelor’s degree required, in any field of study, preferably in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry. Master's degree preferred. 

• Experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the field of knowledge or in Pastoral Ministry, office work. 
  • Diocesan Pastoral Center, parish or ecclesial movement experience is preferred. 
  • Reliable transportation 
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance 

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of one or more areas of ministerial practice, such as congregational studies, pastoral care, catechetics, justice ministries, community organizing, rural ministry, spirituality and spiritual direction, and intercultural ministry, most especially with Hispanic and Asian American communities, preferred.

• Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and office equipment;

• A solid grasp of customer service and problem solving;

• Must be detail oriented, self-starter, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;

• Must have good written and verbal skills;

• Professional, friendly and welcoming disposition;

• Ability to work with a culturally diverse team.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes up to 20% local or regional travel.
