STATUS: Full Time

WAGE: $19.00-21.00 /hr

POSITION SUMMARY

The All Nations Health Center Eligibility Specialist plays a crucial role in working with All Nations clients and potential clients to assess access for health coverage eligibility. As a team member of the Connecting Kids to Coverage program, the Outreach Eligibility Specialist ensures that Native children, families, and pregnant individuals have access to healthcare coverage under Montana State Medicaid, Healthy Montana Kids (HMK), and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Responsibilities include assisting All Nation’s clients and prospective clients with health insurance applications, renewals, and other eligibility determination processes. This position involves close collaboration with other members of the Connecting Kids to Coverage program and the Finance Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct interviews with patients seeking healthcare benefits to determine eligibility based on factors such as income, household size, and employment status.
  • Provide assistance with Medicaid/HMK/CHIP navigation to clients at various off-site locations, including outreach events, WIC office, Early Head Start, University of Montana, and other partner institutions.
  • Stay informed about available healthcare coverage options for All Nations clients.
  • Participate in training, conferences, and meetings with other Eligibility Specialists to enhance knowledge of Montana State laws regarding health coverage.
  • Complete Medicaid/HMK/CHIP applications and other relevant forms.
  • Monitor applicants eligible for Medicaid or other financial assistance programs as required.
  • Record clear and concise notes in patient accounting systems.
  • Ensure timely acquisition and filing of all supporting documents, including applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with filing deadlines.
  • Assist client’s ineligible for state-sanctioned health coverage options in navigating third-party alternatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and implement outreach events providing the Missoula community with access to health coverage assistance.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis regarding outreach events, submitted applications, and clients assisted.
  • Provide monthly reports on enrollment analytics.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Associate’s degree or relevant professional background in fields such as business, communication, community health, prevention sciences, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of insurance and eligibility services in urban, tribal, or federal healthcare settings, or a readiness to acquire this knowledge.
  • Must possess reliable transportation, hold a valid Montana driver’s license, and be open to a criminal background check.

REQUIRED

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel), electronic medical records systems, email, and database software.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are vital.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy consistently, adhering to practice, state, and federal regulations.
  • Shows commitment to developing and practicing excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Capable of understanding, following, and enforcing safety procedures.
  • Able to work with a high-risk, minority population while maintaining emotional stability in challenging situations.
  • Effective at working collaboratively in a customer service-oriented team environment.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Possesses a valid MT Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Willing to undergo a criminal background check.
  • Employees may be asked to remain or report to work as necessary to fulfill essential tasks for the benefit of the organization. This may involve working non-traditional hours or performing duties outside of regular assignments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential job duties may require occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. The ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch and utilize reaching, handling, fingering and feeling movements is required. The ability to hear normal conversational discussion and near and far visual clarity is required.

Preference in employment is given to qualified Native American candidates, in accordance with Title 42 CFR 36.221.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
