Industrial Roofing Company is Hiring a Warehouse Supervisor Near Lewiston, ME

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The incumbent is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating shipments, and ensuring warehouse/yard organization adheres to company standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee daily operations within the warehouse, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment and products.

2. Maintain accurate inventory records through regular audits and cycle counts. Utilize Sortly Inventory System.

3. Coordinate and track incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely delivery and proper documentation.

4. Implement and maintain safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

5. Collaborate with all departments to fulfill orders and resolve any discrepancies.

6. Optimize warehouse layout and organization for efficient storage and accessibility.

7. Assist in logistics support to ensure field personnel have necessary materials and tools to service customers.

8. Evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency and productivity.

9. Ensure yard cleanliness, storage of materials, and organization of equipment is fully in compliance with company standards. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily, in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Mental alertness and adaptability to field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school, plus related experience and/or training.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY OR EQUIPMENT

Proper maintenance and supervision of all issued equipment necessary for job completion. Must be proficient in all essential equipment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Under direction where standard practice enables the employee to proceed on routine work, referring all questionable cases to supervisor.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, project specifications and procedure manuals.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carryout detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations routine and/or uncommon in nature.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret graphs.

PLANNING

Moderate responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.

DECISION MAKING

Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of moderate importance and which would not only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved, but would also affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.

Moderate mental demand. Operations requiring continual directed thinking to carry out predetermined procedure or sequence of operations of limited variability. Operations requiring intermittent attention to control machine or manual motions.

Moderately repetitive. Activities with slight variation using a definite set of processed or direction with some degree of supervision. Choice of learned things in situation which conform to clearly established patterns and modes.

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS

Regular use of construction machines, tools and related equipment.

ACCURACY

Probable errors of internal and external scope would have a major effect on the operation efficiency of the organizational component concerned. Errors might possibly go undetected for a considerable period of time, thereby creating an inaccurate picture of an existing situation. Could cause further errors, losses, or embarrassment to the organization. The possibility for error is always present due to requirements of the job.

PUBLIC CONTACT

Frequent routine contacts with persons outside the organization. This would include contacts with suppliers, customers, etc.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT

Contacts of significant importance with immediate associates, management and peers. Requires mutual courtesy to avoid friction in relationships essential to working with others and skillful supervision of assigned crew members.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work in high, precarious places; frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions; and occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

ROLES & RESPONSIBLITIES

1. Organized Warehouse & Yard: Ensure IRC (Lewiston) Warehouse & Yard are clean, safe, orderly and represent the Core Values of IRC.

2. Inventory Management: Overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of roofing & service materials. This includes maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting regular stock counts, and ensuring adequate levels of stock to meet demand. Utilize Sortly System to track inventory. Also manage LP/Propane vendor coordination.

3. Order Fulfillment: Processing Project Manager (PM) JOB ORDERS efficiently and accurately. This involves picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment, as well as coordinating delivery schedules with PM’s and Operations Manager. Ensuring all other drivers/operators complete job orders in full to ensure complete and accurate job deliveries.

4. Quality Control: Inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure that roofing/service materials meet quality standards and specifications. This may involve conducting visual inspections, measuring dimensions, and performing quality tests as necessary. Match Deliveries to PO’s and Label accordingly.

5. Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices within the warehouse. This includes maintaining a clean and organized work environment, implementing safety protocols. Engage in occasional inspections and observations of IRC trucks, equipment, trailers, etc, and report issues to Operations Manager or Safety Manager in the event of any concerns.

6. Equipment Tracking & Maintenance: Overseeing the tracking and maintenance/repair of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and packaging machinery. Also oversee the tracking and maintenance of project equipment such as safety carts, flagging, welders, major tools, etc. This involves scheduling routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and coordinating repairs as needed.

7. Vendor Management: Building and maintaining relationships with roofing material suppliers and vendors and delivery personnel.

8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to warehouse operations, such as inventory levels, shipping and receiving logs, and equipment maintenance records. Generating reports and analysis to track key performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

1. This includes Reviewing and Updating Processes for:

a. Job Order Fulfillment and Preparation

b. Receiving Process

c. Excess Material coming back from jobs

d. In-progress Material Management / Logistics Support

9. Problem Solving: Resolving any issues or challenges that arise in the course of warehouse operations, such as supply shortages, shipping delays, or customer complaints. This may involve troubleshooting problems, coordinating solutions with other departments or external partners, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

10.Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the warehouse. This includes implementing new technologies, streamlining workflows, and optimizing resource utilization to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

ONGOING RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Continue as Class A driver for logistics support on an interim basis and on a spot-basis after new Class A Driver is in place.

2. Help Train New Class A Driver as needed.

3. Support Class-B / Can-Truck Driver and back-fill as needed.

4. Assist Safety Manager with new driver employees / road tests as well as Fork-Lift trainings.

5. Assist Safety Manager with Warehouse / Yard Safety related matters:

1. Fire Extinguisher Inspections

2. Warehouse Safety compliance

3. Serve on Safety Committee
