FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-exempt (Hourly). Working 35 hours per week.

The Director of Liturgy and Pastoral Ministries is an integral member of the parish staff, responsible for facilitating and coordinating liturgical activities under the guidance of the Pastor. This role requires a deep understanding of Catholic liturgy, pastoral care and a passion for serving the community.

Major Responsibilities

Pastoral Coordination:

- Coordinate and assist with pastoral activities including weddings (rehearsal and celebration), funerals (planning and meeting), and other sacramental celebrations.

- Recruit and train altar servers, lectors, ushers, and ministers of Holy Communion, ensuring they understand their roles and

responsibilities.

- Coordinate pastoral attention for nursing home residents and homebound parishioners by gathering a team of Ministry to the 

Sick volunteers. Provide pastoral support to parishioners in times of loss, bereavement period and illness.

- Coordinate distribution of Holy Communion and visits to the homebound.

- Other pastoral duties as needed and assigned.

Liturgical Coordination:

- Recruit volunteer liturgical ministers, including lectors, ushers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMCs), and altar 

servers for Sunday and weekday Masses. Oversee, train and set the schedules for the liturgical ministers. 

- Recruit volunteers to assist with environment and arborist ministries. Coordinate and schedule the volunteers to setup and 

decorate the church environment for various liturgical seasons and special celebrations. Serve as point of contact for inquiries of 

the Sacrament of Marriage to be held at the parish. Work with the engaged couple for all requirements, arrangements, schedules, 

pre-marital classes, meetings with the Pastor or Parochial Vicar.

- Maintain and stock sacristy, as well as manage its expenses (e.g. bread, wine, purificators, palms, ashes, Easter candle, etc.).

- Work with the Pastor and Deacons to plan and prepare for liturgical celebrations, ensuring adherence to liturgical norms and 

traditions.

- Collaborate with musicians, choirs and other stakeholders to enhance the quality of the liturgical music and worship experience.

Administrative Duties:

- Maintain accurate records, follow-up and fully completed wedding packets, liturgical schedules, volunteer assignments, and 

pastoral activities.

- Assist parish secretary in the preparation and distribution of worship aids, weekly bulletin, and other liturgical materials.

- Communicate effectively with parishioners, volunteers, and staff members regarding pastoral and liturgical matters.

- Collaborate with the parish office to ensure smooth coordination of events and activities.

- Schedule visiting priests as Mass celebrants and for Reconciliation Services as needed.

- Oversee OVASE compliance of active parish ministers.

- Other duties as requested by Pastor.

Professional Development:

- Stay informed about developments in liturgical theology, pastoral care, and Catholic Church teachings.

- Attend necessary workshops, conferences, and other educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the

position.

- Participate in ongoing formation and spiritual enrichment programs provided by the parish or archdiocese.

Requirements

Qualifications:

- Baptized member of a Catholic parish faith community. 

- Commitment to the Mission of the parish.

- Excellent communication and conciliation skills. 

- Ability to recruit, supervise, motivate, and support volunteers.

- Computer literate: able to word process at 50 wpm and maintain database systems. 

- Competence in records management. 

- Able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and in an organized fashion. 

- Able to honor and maintain confidentiality.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each 

essential duty satisfactorily, must work well with people of all walks of life and 

possess the ability to lead and train liturgical ministers.

Education and/or Experience:

- High School Diploma or equivalent is required as well as a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Liturgical Ministry.

Skills/Knowledge: 

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher. Knowledge of

liturgy preferred. 

Language Skills:

 - Ability to read, analyze, and write reports, business correspondence and procedure 

manuals. Strong communication skills; ability to effectively present information 

and respond to questions from customers, and the general public. Must have good

verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

Reasoning Ability:

- Ability to solve practical problems and ability to interpret instructions furnished in writing or orally. Ability to adapt to changing 

schedules or routines; excellent time management skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

- Driver’s License.
