Description

Visionix USA, a leader in vision care innovation, is seeking a Depot Repair Technician for our growing Lombard facility. The Depot Repair Technician is responsible for processing returned systems, subassemblies and components from end-users. They are responsible for verifying the returns against the return reason, repairing the units, and validating functionality against predetermined standards. The technician uses problem solving skills to test and diagnose for probable fault causes. The technician works with fellow DRTs, engineering and management to restore as designed.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Document all repairs and test results per defined process.
  • Performs all necessary tests to validate full functionality of equipment.
  • Performs complex electro-mechanical repair work as required.
  • Full working knowledge of software/firmware functionality tied to the equipment.
  • Utilizes complex and detailed manufacturing documentation and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Updates documentation as needed (work instructions, troubleshooting trees, etc.)
  • Communicate clearly with the team.
  • Participate in audit readiness and audit functions of manufacturing areas.
  • Maintain a clear and orderly work area.
  • Demonstrate and follow cGMP and ISO processes within a medical manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate, professionally communicate, and lend toward organizational improvement.
  • Other tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree or technical certificate focused on software, engineering or electronics or a minimum of 2 years experience in an electro-mechanical repair environment; involving software, hardware, trouble shooting and functional validations.
  • Experience working in a medical device industry and service repair depot: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Ability to perform precision mechanical repairs and tests.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written; understand manufacturing process instructions, test criteria and interpret results.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, hardware and component identification
  • Working knowledge of software applications (Windows, Microsoft suite, etc.)
  • Ability to comprehend integration of software and firmware used in the equipment. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiar with computers, able to enter data and produce reports.

Working Environment:

  • Environment is an electronic assembly area with sealed floors, climate control system, fluorescent lighting, ESD (electrostatic discharge) protected workstations and ESD sensitive material.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to frequently lift, carry or move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds. 
  • Able to bend, stoop and crouch to inspect materials or place labels.
  • Consistently able to move about to coordinate work.
