Pharmacy Technician Qualifications and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

• Process insurance claims and verify patient insurance coverage for prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve any insurance-related issues or discrepancies.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to insurance billing and reimbursement.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of insurance plans, formularies, and prior authorization requirements.
• Utilize pharmacy software systems to document and track insurance claims, patient information, and billing records.
• Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance representatives to address inquiries and provide necessary information.
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure timely prescription filling and delivery, including resolving insurance-related delays.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations throughout the insurance billing process.

Minimum qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from an accredited program.
• Proven experience in insurance billing and claims processing within a pharmacy setting.
• Strong knowledge of insurance plans, third-party payers, and pharmacy benefit management systems.
• Proficiency in pharmacy software systems, including experience with insurance adjudication software.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to handle complex billing scenarios.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear explanations and resolve issues with patients, insurance providers, and other stakeholders.
• Familiarity with pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA and insurance billing compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
