Overview:
We are seeking an Entry Level Machinist (0 to 2 years experience) to join our team. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in starting a career in machining and have a passion for precision manufacturing. As an Entry Level Machinist, you will work closely with experienced machinists and learn the skills necessary to operate and program various types of machinery; such as lathes, 3 4 and 5th axis CNC mills.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines under the guidance of experienced machinists
- Load and unload materials into machines
- Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance
- Use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, bore gauges, and micrometers to intermittently inspect ongoing and finished products
- Follow blueprints, 3D models, work instructions, and engineering specifications to fabricate parts
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve processes
- To be meticulous, organized and proud of your work
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical knowledge and aptitude
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments effectively
- Fundamental understanding of general mathematics, geometry and basic formulas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors of science in Mechanical Engineering (or other engineering disciplines) or Applied Engineering Degree from a qualified technical school
- Basic understanding of machining principles ie; drilling, milling, tapping, and turning
- Familiarity with G-Code, Fadal and/or Fanuc controls
- Experience with SolidWorks, MasterCam or other CAD software
Additional Positive Qualifications:
- Welding of stainless steel, steel and aluminum (TIG)
- Brazing of copper
- Manual machining and / or turning
