Hiring Direct Support Professionals/Direct Care Staff to provide Supported Living Services (SLS) to adult individuals with Intellectual/Developmental abilities who live or wish to live independently. Our mission is to promote sustainability to each person's right to live independently with equitable and inclusive access to community resources and programs. All participants must be referred by and live under the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC) catchment area. The role of the Direct Support Professional is to empower individuals with training and supports in areas that include but are not limited to personal health & wellness, self-advocacy, socialization, money management, housing, household activities, community awareness & safety, and meal preparation & shopping. Training is flexible and tailored to the individual's learning style and delivered with cultural and linguistic competency, dignity, and respect. Other training areas may include but are not limited to:

• Supporting and encouraging personal care including good hygiene and medical needs [scheduling, attending medical appointments, and advocacy]
• Supporting and providing linkage to mental health supports and agencies.
• Creating learning opportunities for community integration and participation via positive interactions and socialization
• Identifying generic community resources [food banks, low-income housing/section 8, support groups, IHSS, etc.]
• Redirecting maladaptive behaviors in a professional and respectful manner.
• Supporting individual's with identifying preferred activities, hobbies, and goals
• Providing training and education with household activities [making bed, disinfecting and cleaning countertops, door- knobs, tables, and bathroom]
• Providing adequate advocacy via staff modeling and training that promotes independence.
• Educating individuals on community safety and awareness [accessing public transportation, recognizing local landmarks, and understanding community risks]
• Budget and finance training [ budget plan that reflects expenses vs. expenditures]

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year experience working with adults with I/DD preferred
• COVID-19 Vaccine[s] & Booster
• Driver's License
• Active vehicle insurance
• TB test
• DMV Driving Record Print Out
• CPR and First Aid Certification
