Position is located in the Pump Maintenance Unit. $4,681 incentive bonus offered to individual who is hired. Conditions apply.
Job Summary

Under general supervision, assists in coordinating, assigning, supervising and performing activities involved in inspection, preventive maintenance and regular and emergency repair of mechanical and electrical equipment necessary to pump, regulate, measure and assure the proper operation of water supply pump stations, water booster stations, pressure reducer devices, sewage lift stations and/or retention facilities located throughout Oakland County. Makes recommendations to purchase equipment, assists in maintaining records and reports for supervision and government agencies, may review plans for new facilities and assists in supervising chemical treatment of water sources to well systems. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Employees of this classification are required to be available for operational problems, equipment emergencies, widespread storms, power outages and other operations and maintenance emergencies as deemed necessary by management after normal working hours, weekends and holidays. Also, employees in this classification are assigned On-Call duties as required by management.
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:
1. Possess a high school diploma or have completed the state requirements for a GED certificate.
2. Have at least five (5) years of full-time work experience in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of water and sewage pumps and related electric motors, at least one (1) year of which must have involved crew leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
3. a. WHEN ASSIGNED TO WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
Possess a State of Michigan Class D or higher Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate from the Department of Environmental Quality; OR
b. WHEN ASSIGNED TO PUMP MAINTENANCE
Possess a Michigan Department of Community Health D-1 Water Treatment license and S-1 license; OR
c. WHEN ASSIGNED TO RETENTION TREATMENT BASINS
Possess a State of Michigan C-2a Water Disinfection certificate, or an A-1b Plain Water Clarification certificate, or an A-1d Impoundment certificate.
4. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.
5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
6. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
