Job Description: The Shift Supervisor oversees all aspects of cottage operations for scheduled shifts; serves as a role model for staff and residents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Oversees all aspects of cottage operations for scheduled shifts Oversees treatment of youth during scheduled shifts Monitors proper implementation of Psycho-Educational Model (PEM) providing consultation, supervision and feedback to Youth Care Workers I, II, and III (YCWs) Models and ensures that YCWs effectively use the PEM tools (e.g., individualized motivation system, self-government, problem solving techniques) Prepares supervision for assigned Youth Care Workers Oversees youth admission and departure Conducts shift transition meetings and treatment planning conferences and other meetings as scheduled Ensures safety in program and non-program areas in accordance with guidelines/procedures Ensures adherence to agency policies and procedures (e.g., physical holdings, youth safety, outings, and reporting guidelines, etc.) Ensures compliance with state, local, grant, contract, or licensure requirements Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises 5-10 employees in the Youth Care Worker position. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
