Williamson & Associates (W&A) is a professional consulting firm specializing in the watertightness and durability aspects of commercial building exterior construction. The firm provides a variety of consulting services with this focus, from review of Architectural drawings for new construction projects to investigations of existing buildings in order to determine the causes of leakage or distress in exterior wall and roofing assemblies. Our headquarters is in Atlanta, GA, and we have a branch office in Orlando, FL. Our Clients and projects are throughout the United States. As of 2019, W&A is a wholly owned subsidiary of Curtainwall Design Consulting in Dallas, TX.

Job Description

We are seeking candidates experienced in construction, engineering, architecture, or building science technology with interest in a career utilizing and developing their experience and education. Our field is focused on building exteriors and roofing, the materials and details which promote durable and watertight building envelopes versus poorly performing or leaking facilities, and applying that knowledge to help Clients solve and prevent problems with their building facilities. We are seeking candidates for our Atlanta and Orlando offices. Please note this is not a remote position and the successful candidates will be required to report into the Atlanta or Orlando office.

Consultant goal responsibilities include reviewing Architectural drawings for detailing and materials choices for watertightness and durability aspects, providing recommended detailing sketches and drawings, preparing reports explaining the rationale for recommended adjustments to planned construction, and meeting with Clients to discuss construction recommendations. Other duties include: Providing building exterior consulting guidance during pre-construction meetings with Architects, General Contractors, and Subcontractors; Performing site visit inspections and testing of new construction work; Performing field evaluations on existing buildings with reported leakage or durability problems, and helping Clients implement solutions.

This position requires being located in the Atlanta, GA or Orlando, FL area. We encourage locals to apply, as well as people who are interested in relocating to these areas.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor degree minimum is required. Past construction experience is preferred. Drafting experience or training is valuable, but not required. Quality writing and speaking communication skills are mandatory. Previous technical writing training is valuable, but not required. We seek “self-starters” who are driven to learn and act, and would enjoy helping Clients with applying technical knowledge in construction problem solving work. Basic computer skills needed.

This is mid-to-senior level position that can provide a rewarding career. A “Consultant” with W&A is a salaried professional position. Additional “bonus” pay is provided based on individual and company performance.
