Laurel House is a comprehensive domestic violence agency serving individuals, families and communities throughout Montgomery County.
Fleeing an abusive partner can be one of the most dangerous times for a victim of domestic abuse. Each year, there are 150-200 victims and their children that come through the Laurel House Shelter.
Laurel House is looking for a Medical Advocate Coordinator who has a passion for educating, developing and delivering training about domestic violence, domestic violence screening tools, resources and other domestic violence related topics focusing on medical facilities and providers, substance abuse programs / facilities, behavioral health facilities, licensed medical professionals and students in allied health facilities.
- Serve as representative for Laurel House in coordinating contacts with hospitals, substance abuse, behavioral health and medical facilities in Montgomery County.
- Develop and deliver domestic violence related training for medical personnel in Montgomery County.
- Train staff and / or volunteers who are responsible for providing direct services about medical issues and resources.
- Provide and / or ensure on-site appropriate response when called by a patient or staff person at a medical facility; assist with on-site response to other crisis response calls.
- Represent Laurel House on community committees.
- Provide updates for Laurel House website and marketing materials.
- Complete monthly statistics and information for funding applications.
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation required. Travel required throughout Montgomery County.
Degree in public health, education, social work, or related field preferred but not required.
Demonstrated skills in effectively developing training materials, delivering training curriculum and public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and respond effectively in crisis situations.
